I have to admit that my recent feelings of complete betrayal by John McCain had me leaning to just not watching this event...but I gave in at the last minute.
WOW - I can't believe that the idea is to just talk about Ronald Reagan and skip over the last 8 years of George W. Bush.
All I heard tonight was a not surprisingly large shift to in your face abortion talk and arguments about the Democrats as baby killers and tax raisers. Nothing else except for Lieberman. This is what most upset me.
Lieberman gave what I thought was the perfect speech. It talked about getting past ideology and getting things done. Interestingly enough it got a tepid response from the crowd. As usual, a moderate or even a Democrat bows down to the self righteous and says "let's please work together." It became a real knife in the back of people like myself who thought "My God, this could have been an incredibly historic, productive and open ticket."
I thought Thompson gave gave a wonderful speech. It was sincere in regards to his feelings about McCain.
All in all, this didn't get as nasty and self righteous as some previous years, but it had that feeling.
